Creation and The Spider
Creation is more like a spiral than a straight line
At first, I suppose, you want to cast a wide net, so that you make sure that everything that interests you gets caught up, and you want to make sure you get all those big flies, eventually though, if the net isn't finished, those big juicy morsels will pass right through and get away, and we won't catch anything. We need to work on all of the sections of our net so that we sit back and wait for our pray to be caught, and be fed.
We need to complete a nice big web, an artwork so that we can catch a collector make money and eat.
When we look at the web as a healer, we can think of it as a dream catcher, one that lets the good dreams through but blocks out the bad dreams. I think artwork can be healing.
I think of the spider web as a sort of filter, we as spiders do the job of cleaning up the flies. We consume that darkness so that we may live.
The life cycle of the artist has many layers, there are individual paintings, series of work, and major changes in our practice.
They are reflected in nature. I like to work from the perspective of the gardener. At first the field is just a field, then there are plants and the possibility of harvest. I suppose we should want to know what we want to harvest before we start.
