“What interests me is colour’s ability to evoke memories, feelings, and worlds. I’ve noticed for example that my colour choices change according to the seasons, if I travel, and my state of mind. I try to express, with sensitivity and reflection, the complex spectrum of feelings and thoughts I have, using combinations of colours informed from my sensory experiences“
Natalie Légère was born in Moncton, NB, and attended the Université de Moncton graduating with a B.A. in 2008.
Her recent solo exhibitions include Raptors, Galerie Marie-Hélène Allain, Bouctouche, NB, Impressions: Mandalas from Still Life, Galerie 12, Moncton, NB, and Pastels, Galerie Assomption Vie, Moncton, NB.
Légère has taught workshops to different age groups, given artist talks around exhibitions and residencies such as Naked State, in 2019, and has been painting Plein Air at since 2020, returning to Peggy’s Cove, NS, Saint-Andrews, NB, and, Shediac, NB for events.
She is an active member of many professional artists associations, and continues to take workshops, including a 2 year mentorship with Dustin Neece (former apprentice of Odd Nerdrum’s), several courses with Contemporary Impressionist Anne Blair Brown, Plein Air Colourist Camille Przewodek, and Contemporary Realist Maggie Rose.
Légère maintains a Studio in Fredericton, NB and is preparing to exhibit The Owls of Turtle Island, at The Saint-John Arts Center, Saint-John, NB, in 2024.
