“What interests me is colour’s ability to evoke memories, feelings, and worlds. I’ve noticed for example that my colour choices change according to the seasons, if I travel, and my state of mind. I try to express, with sensitivity and reflection, the complex spectrum of feelings and thoughts I have, using combinations of colours informed from my sensory experiences“
Natalie Légère was born in Moncton, NB, and received a BA from the Université de Moncton. Her recent solo exhibitions include : Raptors, Galerie Marie-Hélène Allain, Bouctouche, NB; Impressions: Mandalas from Still Life, Galerie 12, Moncton, NB; and Pastels, Galerie Assomption Vie, Moncton, NB.
Légère has participated in many group exhibitions such as : Market II, Third Space, Saint-John, NB, Chouettes, Grassroots Gallery, Fredericton, NB, and Summer, Galerie Sans Non, Moncton, NB, and was selected for Naked State (2019), and Constellation Collective (2021) artist residencies. She has taught kids, as well as adult classes in schools and at her private gallery.
In 2020 Légère’s artwork took a big turn, after favouring non-figuration for many years, she became more interested in representational painting, she mentored with Dustin Neece for over 2 years during this time, also taking workshops with Anne Blair Brown, Camille Przewodek, and Maggie Rose, among others.
Légère is an active member of several professional artists associations, and maintains a Studio, at The Charlotte Street Art Center, Fredericton, NB. She is currently painting new work for The Owls of Turtle Island which will be at The Saint-John Arts Center, Saint-John, NB in 2024.
